Why did my brokerage connection break?
Brokerage authorization sessions don’t last forever — they expire or get revoked, and when that happens we can no longer pull your latest holdings automatically. It’s normal and usually takes only a moment to fix. The most common causes are:
- The brokerage requires a periodic re-login or MFA and the session simply timed out. Robinhood in particular expires sessions far more often than brokers with long-lived OAuth such as Charles Schwab or Fidelity, so Robinhood connections tend to need reconnecting more frequently.
- You changed your brokerage password or MFA settings. Updating your login invalidates the existing authorization.
- You revoked third-party access at the brokerage. Many brokers let you manage connected apps and remove access from their own security settings.
- The brokerage or our aggregator had a maintenance or security event. Planned maintenance or a precautionary re-authentication can drop active connections.
