Our proprietary snapshot of this list — averages and standouts, computed from the funds below. Not investment advice.
For anyone living off their portfolio, consistency beats a big headline yield: a monthly cheque that actually arrives, every month, and doesn't shrink. This page screens the monthly-paying ETF universe for exactly that kind of steadiness, then ranks the survivors by safety-adjusted yield.
To make the list a fund must clear three bars at once — pay monthly, hold an unbroken streak of at least three years, and show a distribution that has not been cut over the past year. It's a deliberately demanding filter, so the result is the dependable core of the monthly-income universe rather than its newest, highest-yielding experiments.
How this screen works
Three consistency tests, then ranked by safety-adjusted yield (yield weighted by the Distribution Safety Score).
- Cadence: pays monthly.
- Streak: at least a 3-year (36-month) unbroken payment streak.
- Trend: the trailing 1-year distribution is flat or rising, not shrinking.
- Rank: by Safety-Adjusted Yield — distribution rate × Distribution Safety Score ÷ 100 — so durable income leads, not the biggest raw yield.

Frequently asked questions
What makes a monthly ETF "consistent" here?
Three things at once: it pays monthly, it has an unbroken streak of at least three years, and its distribution over the last year is flat or rising rather than shrinking. 60 funds currently clear all three.
How are these ranked?
By Safety-Adjusted Yield — the distribution rate multiplied by the Distribution Safety Score and divided by 100. That rewards funds pairing a solid yield with a durable-looking payout, instead of putting the riskiest high-yielder on top.
Why require a non-shrinking distribution?
A steadily falling monthly payout is the classic sign of NAV erosion in some high-yield funds — the cheque keeps coming but gets smaller. Requiring a flat-or-rising trailing distribution filters those out.
Is a consistent payer automatically safe?
No. Consistency is a strong signal, but future payments depend on future income. The Distribution Safety Score column is there precisely to flag where a long streak may still rest on a stretched payout.
How often does this update?
Streaks, distributions, yields, and Safety Scores refresh on every build, so membership and ranking re-compute automatically.
